About the Project

Coming to Midtown

A series of captivating public art projects will be installed along the Milam Street corridor in Midtown Houston, each designed to disrupt how we perceive homelessness. Funded by a generous $1M grant from the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, HueMan:Shelter will bring together artists and individuals experiencing homelessness to create powerful visual stories based on their lived experiences.
It’s a social awareness campaign bolstering Houston’s successful interventions to address homelessness.

HueMan:Shelter is a heartfelt collaboration between the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and the Midtown Houston Cultural Arts and Entertainment District.
