Emanuelee Bean

Emanuelee “Outspoken” Bean is an acclaimed poet, performer, and mentor, known for his groundbreaking contributions to spoken word and performance art. As the former Poet Laureate of Houston, Texas, Bean has been a passionate advocate for diverse voices and emerging talent.

His innovative spirit led him to become the first poet to perform on the main stage of the Houston Ballet, solidifying his reputation as a trailblazer in the arts. His performances have reached audiences worldwide, including prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall. Beyond his own artistic work, Bean is deeply committed to mentorship, transforming the Meta-Four Houston poetry slam team into the Meta4 Houston Youth Writing Fellowship—a program dedicated to developing young writers. Under his guidance, Meta4 Houston secured consecutive victories at the Brave New Voices Youth Poetry Slam in 2023 and 2024.
